¼ Cup 컵 Brown Sugar 흑설탕

Step One
Preheat your frying pan on high heat for 1 to 2 minutes.
Add the ground beef to the frying pan. Quickly flatten the ground beef, using a spatula.

Turn down the stove heat to medium and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes or until you see a light brown marks on the meat. Then turn over the meat and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes or until you see a light brown marks on the meat. You do not want to cook the meat all the way here. It is ok if you see some pink on the meat.
On a strainer and lay a sheet of paper towel on top of the strainer (place a plate under the strainer). Pour the cooked ground beef on the paper towel strainer. Give about 5 minutes or so until the fat drains. Then roughly chop up the cooked ground beef into small crumbles.
Step Two
Using a wet paper towel (squeeze out the excess water), wipe the frying pan to remove the excess fat left on the pan. Preheat the frying pan on high heat for 1 to 2 minutes. Add a drizzle of your favorite oil.

¼ Teaspoon 작은술 Black Pepper 후추
2 Cups 컵 Water 물
¼ Cup 컵 Brown Sugar 흑설탕
¼ Cup 컵 Soy Sauce 간장
¼ Cup 컵 Mirin 미림
1 Tablespoon 큰술 Extra Virgin Olive Oil 식용유
½ Tablespoon 큰술 Beef Dashida 쇠고기 다시다 (optional)
🌱Vegan Option: 1/2 Tablespoon 큰술 YeonDu/연두 concentrated broth enhancer (optional)
½ Tablespoon 큰술 Sesame Oil 참기름
Add the sliced onion, minced garlic, salt and pepper. One high stove heat, lightly sauté for about a minute (just until it starts sweating). Then add the water, soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, and beef dashida (🌱Vegan YeonDu). Mix well. Add the cooked ground beef crumbles, and mix well. Cook on high heat to reduce the liquid to half (it should take about 2 minutes or so). Turn off the stove heat. Then add a light drizzle of the sesame oil. Mix well. Now have a taste test of the BulGoGi au jus. It should taste just salty enough so that with warm Korean rice together, it will be perfect. Add more salt if needed. If too salty, add some hot water and mix well.
Transfer to a serving plate. Garnish with minced scallions and a light sprinkle of sesame seeds.
This Ground Beef BulGoGi is absolutely delicious with warm Korean rice. I add extra spoonfuls of the au jus and mix it well with the rice, and eat it with kimchi.
