RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure the grill plate is nice and hot before adding the beef. You don't need to add oil to the plate. Because the beef slices are thin, this cooks real fast. As soon as the redness disappears on the beef, it is ready. Cook the beef as you eat. These non-marinated beef slices are best enjoyed straight off the grill plate.
If you are using Pork Belly, you can rub the fat on the hot grill plate to add a coat of pork fat before adding the meat. If you are using Mushroom Bulgogi, add a tiny drizzle of oil on the grill plate before grilling.
소금 후춧가루 소스: Salt Black Pepper Dipping Sauce
This is made as an individual-size dipping sauce. Put the salt on one side of the sauce bowl, then add the black pepper right next to the salt. Then cover the remaining sauce bowl with sesame oil.
쌈장: SsamJang (Korean BBQ Condiment)
For Out Of The Box SsamJang, just add the sesame oil on top and sprinkle the sesame seeds.
For Mixing Your Own SsamJang, combine the honey, soybean paste, and red pepper paste, and mix well. Then drizzle the sesame oil on top and sprinkle some sesame seeds.
파무침 PaMuChim (Scallion Salad)
Combine all the ingredients and mix well. This is best enjoyed within 15 to 20 minutes, as the vinegar and spices will wilt down the scallions.
How To Make Korean BBQ Lettuce Wrap: Ssam 쌈
Everyone has their own favorite way of enjoying the lettuce wrap. Typically, this is how it is enjoyed.
Pick your favorite lettuce leaf (you can add multiple layers of your favorite lettuce leaves), add a small amount of Korean rice (yes, not all Asian rice are the same), then dip the hot beef from the grill plate into the Salt/Black Pepper/Sesame Oil sauce, add a dab of SsamJang, and some scallion salad with one or two pieces of the cucumber. Fold one end of the lettuce leaf to the center, then wrap the sides as tightly as possible. And into your mouth, it goes.
Korean lettuce wrap is meant to be enjoyed as one bite, so that you can enjoy all the flavors together, at once. So make it small so that it fits into your mouth. And it is always fun to make these wraps for your loved ones and feed it to them.
